Admission to secondary schools September 2010

There are eight local authority schools in the Wokingham Borough. Secondary school places are allocated by the School Admissions Team in our Children’s Services taking into account:

• Published admission arrangements

• The number of places available at each school

Children born between September 1, 1998 and August 31, 1999 will move on to secondary school in September 2010. The closing date for applications was October 31, 2009.

Wokingham Borough residents

If you pay Council Tax to Wokingham Borough Council you should complete our application form for any secondary school within the Borough, or for application to schools in other authorities.

Residents of other authorities

You must apply for schools using the application form provided by your home local authority. If you are considering a place at a Wokingham Borough school, then it is recommended that you read our parents guide, available in September 2009, to understand the basis on which places will be allocated. Your local authority will forward your child’s application to us.

The key dates in the application and allocation process are:

• 12 September 2009 - Distribution of application packs

• 11 September 2009 - Online admissions open

• 31 October 2009 - Closing date for return of application form and closure of online admissions

• 1 March 2010 - Parents sent notification of school allocated

• 22 March 2010 - Deadline for parents to accept the place offered

• 22 March 2010 - Closing date for lodging an appeal

• 22 March 2010 - Waiting list information available

Our Parent Guide to Secondary Admissions states that the admission number for Ranelagh School in Bracknell for 2010/11 is 168 and this should read 155
