Admission to secondary schools September 2008

There are 8 Local Authority schools in the Wokingham Borough. Secondary school places are allocated by admissions staff in our Children’s Services taking into account:

Children born between 1 September 1997 and 31 August 1998 will move on to secondary school in September 2009. Parents and carers who live in Wokingham Borough will need to apply - either by paper application or online - for a place by Friday 24 October 2008.

Wokingham Borough residents

If you pay Council Tax to Wokingham Borough Council you should complete our application form or apply online for any secondary school within the Borough, or for application to schools in other authorities.

Residents of other authorities

You must apply for schools using the application form or online admissions service provided by your home local authority. If you are considering a place at a Wokingham Borough school then it is recommended that you read our parents guide, available in September 2008, to understand the basis on which places will be allocated. Your local authority will forward your child’s application to us.

Application packs will be distributed via your child’s current primary school. If your child attends an Independent school or you move into Wokingham Borough after 10 September 2008 you will need to contact the School Admissions Team for an application pack. The key dates in the application and allocation process are:

10 September 2008, application packs distributed and website open for online applications
24 October 2008, closing date for applications
2 March 2009, parents sent notification of school allocated
23 March 2009, deadline for parents to accept the place offered
23 March 2009, closing date for lodging an appeal

For residents of the Wokingham Borough, from 10 September 2008 it will be possible to apply online for a secondary school place for September 2009. More information will be available at our online admissions website page.
