Rats, mice and cockroaches are the main pests that food proprietors need to look out for. Food legislation requires a food business operator to ensure good food hygiene practices, including protection against contamination and, in particular pest control.
Pest control
Although it is not a legal requirement to have a contract with a pest control company, it is strongly recommended and shows a commitment by the food business operator to ensuring a premise remains pest free. See our pest control page or read our Pest facts and tips (PDF document) for more details.
