Rate Relief for Businesses In Rural Areas - Population under 3000

You are entitled to a 50% reduction in your rates bill if you are:

  • the only general store or the only post office and have a rateable value of less than £8,500

  • a food shop with a rateable value of less than £8,500

  • the only public house or the only petrol station and have a rateable value of less than £12,500 and the property is occupied.

 

In addition we have the discretion to give further relief on the remaining 50% of the bill. 

In addition, we also have the discretion to give relief on certain other occupied property in a rural settlement where the rateable value is less than £16,500 and the business is of benefit to the local community.
